conspire :: auditions
nimbus holds open auditions for all of its productions. Auditions are by appointment only, take approximately ten minutes, and consist of cold reading selections from the script for that production. There will be a variety of script samples for selection, and actors will be given time to prepare the material. All readings will be heard privately by the director and one or two members of the production team.
Please bring a resume and headshot to auditions. We also take digital photographs of actors at auditions. Actors who are cast in a production should expect to hear back from nimbus within a week of auditions or call-backs. Call-backs are held for most productions. nimbus casting decisions are color blind, unless script needs stringently dictate otherwise. We encourage actors of all backgrounds to audition.
Auditions are publicized in the Star-Tribune Sunday classifieds (550's), on tctheatreandfilm.org, and through our auditions email list. Actors interested in nimbus are strongly encouraged to sign up for this email list.
AEA Members: We regret that we are unable at this time to work with members of the Actors Equity Association. However, our organization is growing, and we hope that this will change someday soon. Please keep an eye on our audition notices- we will make sure to keep the community informed when this does change.
Stipends: Unfortunately, nimbus is unable to offer stipends for actors at this time.
Appointments: Appointments may now be scheduled online. At the bottom of this page is a form that may be used to schedule a time to read. You may still make an appointment over the telephone by calling 651-229-3122. Please note that all auditions are by appointment only.

Auditions for TV Men, a new workshopped produciton
nimbus will hold auditions for a new workshopped production entitled TV Men, which will be performed May 9-24, 2008 at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis. Auditions will take place on Sunday February 3rd from 1 pm to 4 pm and Monday February 4th from 6 pm to 10 pm. Call backs will be Saturday February 9th starting at 2 pm. Auditions will take place at our rehearsal space in Northeast Minneapolis.
TV Men will be a multimedia exploration of humanity's obsession with celebrity and how it effects both its subjects and our society at large. TV Men will be directed by nimbus co-Artistic Josh Cragun and its creation will utilize nimbus's innovative workshop process, culminating in a final work that will intertwine pre-recorded and live video and audio with live performance to delve inside, behind, and through the mass media lens, exploring how it shapes, defines, and distorts the subjects of its affection.
The production will focus on six to eight characters, each of which will have their own vignette. Actors will be cast as one primary character, and will be expected to play supporting roles in most of the other segments. The creation and execution of the piece will be a collaborative effort, and actors will work with the director, designers, and a 'text team' to create the final work. We are looking for actors who can work well in an ensemble atmosphere and are able to display versatility and flexibility in order to portray multiple characters over the course of each performance.
The rehearsal process will be divided into two sections. The first, the workshop section, will begin February 18th and run through March 7th and will consitst of both tablework and physical workshopping to brainstorm and refine the ideas to be used in the final work. The cast will then take a break while the final script is given a polish by the director, and then resume rehearsal April 7th to rehearse the finished script.

Characters
Due to the nature of this workshop, we are not auditioning for specific characters as much as for a strong ensemble cast around which the production can be framed. For the purposes of rehearsal, we will have a variety of monologues available for actors to choose from for cold reading purposes. We would like to have a cast that is well balanced gender-wise, age-wise, and ethnically. More mature actors and actors of color are especially encouraged to audition/
To make an appointment to audition, you may use the form below, or you may call 651 229 3122. If none of the times listed below work for you, please give us a call. We are always willing to be flexible in order to hear an audition.
