discover :: The Bat Alert! workshop series

We believe in art as a form of inquiry. We believe in the need to constantly attempt to redefine the nature of the theatrical process; that being creative means taking chances and exploring the unknown. We believe that it is vital to constantly seek out and nurture new vices, perspectives and ideas. It was from this set of core beliefs from which our Bat Alert! workshop series was born.

The Bat Alert! series provides an atmosphere in which directors, writers, actors, and designers may expiriment outside of the confines of a mainstage production. Participation is open to any artist, with preference given to those who have worked with nimbus before. Once a project has been approved, the participants are free to expiriment in whatever manner they choose, taking as long as they wish to explore, learn, and grow. We provide a space to rehearse, expiriment, discover, and finally, to present the findings of each workshop.

The Bat Alert! series also expands put commitment to approaching live performance as a form of conversation with our audience. The conversations initiated in this series are meant to be more casual, more intimate than those of our regular season. We do not consider those who attend the Bat Alert! performances to simply be audience members. Rather, they are conspirators in the creative process. We hope that they can share their reactions to the work in order to contribute to the growth of the company, the participating artists, and any work that might spring from the workshop process.
