About the Board
Mary Grace Flannery
A nearly life long resident of Minnesota, Mary Grace is a graduate of the College of Saint Catherine and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. She has participated in the arts as an advocate, supporter and attendee since the 60s. She has 30 + years of professional and volunteer experience in the development, management and assessment of non profit organizations engaged in community development and the creation of affordable housing. Mary Grace has assisted numerous Twin Cities and out state organizations through start-up, growth and difficult transition stages as an executive director, development specialist and consultant. She brings organizational development, planning, management and grant writing skills and experience to the nimbus Board of Directors.
Barbara Gaertner
Barbara Bohn Gaertner taught in the Bloomington schools after graduating in 1960 from Clarke College in Dubuque. She quit teaching in 1965 to raise her family. In the years since, she has volunteered in community education programs and the Minneapolis school system. Barbara was a member of 3 Rooms Up art shop and gallery when it began as a women artistsą cooperative some 30 years ago. The serigraphy she was doing then led to her starting her own greeting card business, and then to representing other artists. In more recent years, she has exhibited her works in collage and portraiture.
Barbara has been a follower of the local theatre scene since the Guthrie opened in the 1960s, and she found herself in fact following after George Grizzard as he entered a drugstore to buy Sen-Sen. She was flattered to beasked by nimbus Artistic Director Liz Neerland to be a member of the its board.
Nathan Kavlie
Nathan graduated from Kenyon College in 1996 with a degree in political philosophy and from the University of Michigan Law School in 2004. He is an attorney at Faegre & Benson LLP in Minneapolis where his practice focuses on commercial real estate and land use.

John has been involved with theatre both avocationally and professionally since finishing his bachelors degree in Theatre at Wofford College in 1974. He has worked as a director, lighting designer, stage manager and actor. This includes stints at Theatre De La Jeune Lune, The Academy Theatre, and The Alliance Theatre.
On the business side, John brings 15 plus years of sales and management experience from the health care industry.
Other arts and non-profit related experience includes programming at KFAI, and as Chair for Friends of Holcombe Circle, a neighborhood non-profit that reclaimed and now maintains one of the oldest traffic circles in the Twin Cities. John has lived in St Paul since 1984.
